'The Yellow Book / Love Notes' - Mixed media on w:76.2cm h:60.96cm (30 x 24 inch) canvas. The Yellow Book was inspired by my own infrequent journaling. Over time I realised my notes tell a real story. I've used journalling to support my mental health ever since suffering with depression and so I rearranged the notes from my own words to tell the story of the girl in the portrait. I see so much of me in this piece, the feelings I wanted to convey through the portrait were ones of being tired of life and yet still having the strength to turn towards yourself and give yourself what you need. It covers topics such as inner child work and the ebb and flow of emotional growth. It actually has pieces of the cover of my yellow journal attached to it.
