'You know I'm still here right?' - Acrylics on w:45.72cm x h:55.88cm (18 x 22 inch) canvas. With its mono palette and sculpture like figure this piece creates a dramatic and moving centrepiece. I wanted to picture that feeling where you’re going through life functioning, yet there’s a low feeling chasing you whenever you stop, and saying, ‘you know I’m still here right?’ The half moon has often been a symbol for depression which is how these elements were brought together. In this piece I wanted to show that sometimes it's best to acknowledge a low feeling than constantly fight it. This piece is also attached to a very personal story of mine where the moon played a comforting role in a negative situation. I hope many people find this artwork relatable and attach their own interpretation to it.
